the Gallery

We run our gallery together, populating the shelves with works inspired by our natural materials and idyllic surroundings.

Wobage's 18th century sandstone barns are a beautiful setting for our exhibition spaces.

One of our small community of craftspeople will greet you on your visit. Everything we sell in the gallery has been made here at Wobage.

the Workshops

workshops

Since Mick and Sheila Casson created their pottery in 1977, Wobage has seen seventeen professional craftspeople develop their practices.

Today we are eight makers, creating unique bodies of work with our individual methods and inspirations.

Countless enthusiastic students have learnt to wheel-throw clay with the Wobage potters.

Patia's and Jeremy's pottery classes are extremely popular. The throwing studio is a vibrant, creative space during evening classes and summer courses.

Clyde teaches weaving in his hayloft workshop. His students make foraging baskets, obelisks and platters with willow he grows at the bottom of the Perry orchard.

Mick and Sheila Casson

Mick and Sheila Casson

Meeting each other while studying ceramics in the 1950s, Mick and Sheila started their first pottery and gallery together in London.

Mick Casson co-founded the pioneering Harrow Studio Pottery course and presented his BBC series 'Craft of the Potter', earning an MBE for his contribution to post-war British craft.

A desire to experiment with wood-salt firing drew them to Herefordshire's countryside in 1976.

Wobage summer pottery schools were attended by professionals and novices from across the world. Mick and Sheila's generous spirit, appreciation of Zen and the Arts and Crafts philosophy inspired many.

In May of 2023 we shared the Mick and Sheila Casson Retrospective exhibition with pots from throughout their diverse careers. It was wonderful to enjoy their beautiful work with long-time friends, practicing artists who were influenced by Mick and Sheila and visitors new to Wobage.
